History and Design
The church was built a long time ago, between 1881 and 1883. It was designed by an architect named James Hibbert. He also designed another famous building in Preston, the Harris Museum.
Later, in 1932 and 1933, some parts of the church were added or finished. An architect named Henry Paley helped with this work. He added a small chapel and rooms called vestries, which are used by the clergy and for church activities. He also completed the main part of the church where the altar is, known as the chancel.
The church has an interesting design. It includes a main hall called a nave, and areas on the sides called aisles. It also has a special porch that looks a bit like a transept, which is a part of a church that crosses the main body.
