Wilson Martin (born February 12, 1899 – died June 20, 1978) was an American baseball player. He was sometimes called "William," but most people knew him by his nickname, "Stack." He played as a first baseman in the Negro leagues during the 1920s.
Stack Martin's Baseball Career
Wilson Martin was born in Cairo, Illinois. He started his professional baseball journey in 1925. His first team was the Indianapolis ABCs. He played with the ABCs for two seasons, in 1925 and 1926.
After his time with the Indianapolis ABCs, Martin moved to another team. He joined the Detroit Stars. He played for the Detroit Stars for two more seasons. His career in the Negro leagues lasted until 1928. Wilson Martin passed away in San Francisco, California in 1978. He was 79 years old.
