Building Stadium House
Work to build Stadium House began in March 1974. It was finished and ready to use in 1976. The building now has a cool look with white and blue panels on its outside.
The Spire on Top
On the very top of Stadium House, there is a shiny stainless steel spire. This spire is about 131 feet (40 meters) tall! In the evenings, the spire used to light up with green and white lights. These lights matched the colors of the building's outside.
If you include this tall spire, Stadium House becomes the tallest building in Cardiff and all of Wales. It reaches about 394 feet (120 meters) high with the spire.
Internet Connection Hub
Stadium House is also a very important place for the internet. It works as an "internet exchange point." This means it's a central spot where different internet networks connect to each other. It helps make sure that internet traffic flows smoothly across the country.
Keeping the Building Safe
The outside of the building is covered with a special material. Over the years, there have been times when parts of this covering needed attention. To keep everyone safe, nearby roads were sometimes closed while maintenance work was done on the building's exterior. This ensured that any necessary repairs could be made safely.
