Second Lieutenant Stanley Henry Parry Boughey VC was a brave British soldier who lived from 1896 to 1917. He is famous for receiving the Victoria Cross (VC). Stanley Boughey: A Hero of World War I
Stanley Boughey was born in Liverpool, England, on April 9, 1896. He grew up in a town called Blackpool. When he was older, he decided to join the British Army. He became an officer, holding the rank of Second Lieutenant. This meant he was a leader in his unit.
Serving in the War
During World War I, Stanley Boughey served with the 1/4th Battalion of The Royal Scots Fusiliers. This was a well-known part of the British Army. He was only 21 years old when he showed incredible bravery.
The Victoria Cross
Stanley Boughey was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions on December 1, 1917. This happened at a place called El Burj in Palestine. He was fighting against the Ottoman Army. The Victoria Cross is given to soldiers who show the most outstanding bravery when facing the enemy.
A Brave Act
During the battle, Second Lieutenant Boughey showed amazing courage. He was wounded while performing the act that earned him the Victoria Cross. Sadly, he died three days later, on December 4, 1917, from his injuries. He was only 21 years old.
