Stateline Dam is a special type of dam built from earth and rocks. It was constructed between 1977 and 1979. The United States Bureau of Reclamation built this dam. It stands about 143 feet tall and stretches 2900 feet across its top.
Why Was Stateline Dam Built?
The main purpose of Stateline Dam is to hold back water from the East Fork of Smiths Fork river. This helps in two big ways:
- Flood Control: It stops the river from overflowing and causing floods.
- Water Storage: It stores water for farms to use for irrigation.
The dam is part of a larger plan called the Lyman Project. Another dam, the Meeks Cabin Dam, also helps with this project. The Bureau of Reclamation owns Stateline Dam. A local group, the Bridger Valley Water Conservancy District, helps run it every day.

The dam creates a beautiful lake known as Stateline Reservoir. This lake covers about 304 acres of land. It can hold a large amount of water, up to 12,000 acre-feet.

There are 41 campsites nearby for people who want to stay and enjoy nature. Even though the water is very clean, it's usually too cold for swimming.
