Stearne Ball Miller (born in 1813, died May 2, 1897) was an important Irish figure. He worked as a lawyer, a judge, and a politician. He was a member of the Irish Conservative Party.

Stearne Ball Miller was born in Armagh, Ireland, in 1813. His father was Reverend George Miller, a priest and a well-known historian. His mother was Elizabeth Ball.
Becoming a Lawyer
In 1835, Stearne Ball Miller became a qualified lawyer, which is called being "called to the Bar." Later, in 1852, he became a "Queen's Counsel." This title is given to very experienced and respected lawyers. He married Sarah Rutherford, who was from Dublin. He lived in Dublin for many years.
His Time as a Politician
Stearne Ball Miller was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Armagh City for the first time in 1857. An MP is someone elected to represent their local area in the country's parliament.
However, he lost his seat in the next election in 1859. He didn't give up on politics! He managed to win the seat back in the 1865 election.
Life as a Judge
In 1867, Stearne Ball Miller decided to leave his role as an MP. This was because he was appointed as a judge. He became a judge in charge of bankruptcy cases in Ireland. Bankruptcy happens when a person or company cannot pay their debts.
He continued to serve as an Irish Bankruptcy judge until he passed away in 1897.
