Anna Stefanie Nanna Fryland Clausen (born April 1, 1900 – died August 2, 1981) was a famous Danish diver. She won a gold medal at the 1920 Summer Olympics! Anna was known for her amazing dives from high platforms.
Anna's Early Life
Anna Clausen was born on April 1, 1900, in Vesterbro, Denmark. She grew up in a busy part of Copenhagen.
In 1915, when she was 15 years old, Anna joined the Women's Sports Association. This was a big step for her. Soon after joining, she started competing in both swimming and diving events.
Olympic Gold Medalist
Anna's biggest achievement came at the 1920 Summer Olympics. These Olympic Games were held in Antwerp, Belgium.
At the 1920 Olympics, Anna competed in the 10-meter platform diving event. This means she jumped from a platform 10 meters (about 33 feet) high! She performed incredibly well and won the gold medal. It was a huge moment for her and for Denmark.
Anna Clausen passed away on August 2, 1981. She is remembered as an Olympic champion and a pioneer in Danish diving.
