Sten Lundin (born November 20, 1931 – died June 3, 2016) was a famous Swedish professional motocross rider. He raced in the top-level Motocross World Championships from 1955 to 1966. For many years, from 1955 to 1964, Sten Lundin was one of the top three riders in the 500cc Motocross World Championships.
Sten Lundin's Motocross Journey
Sten Lundin was a very successful motocross rider. He won the F.I.M. (which stands for Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) 500cc motocross world championship in 1959. He was riding a Monark motorcycle at the time.
In the 1960 world championship, he came in second place. He was just two points behind another great rider, Bill Nilsson. Sten Lundin won the 500cc world championship again in 1961. This time, his Monark motorcycle was called a Lito.
Sten Lundin continued to do well in the championships. In 1962, he finished third in the world. He then came in second place in 1963, losing to Rolf Tibblin. In 1964, he finished third again. Lundin was also part of the winning Swedish team in the 1955 Motocross des Nations. This is a big team competition in motocross.
Sten Lundin passed away on June 3, 2016.
