Step Inside is a fun British TV show made for children. It was created by Tricorn Productions for the CBeebies channel. The show first appeared on TV in February 2002 and was last shown in July 2010. It's all about stories and imagination!

What is Step Inside About?

The show features a friendly groundsman named Mr. Mopple, played by Chris Jarvis. As Mr. Mopple works, he often hears a special sound coming from a magical house. This sound lets him know that a new story is waiting to be told!

When Mr. Mopple hears the sound, the house magically comes to life. A friendly face appears on its outside wall, inviting him in with a special rhyme: "Step inside, all those who love stories, look, and listen, we've tales to tell, of fun, excitement, magic, adventure, tears, fears and laughter. Surprises as well. Step Inside."

Meet the Characters

Inside the magical house, Mr. Mopple meets some unique non-human characters who help with the stories. These characters are brought to life using a mix of animated faces and puppet hands:

  • Twinkle: A playful animated cat.
  • Boris: A wise bookcase who loves books.
  • Chloe: A cheerful clock who keeps time.

How the Stories Work

Boris, the bookcase, always provides a book for Mr. Mopple to read. Mr. Mopple then sits down and starts to narrate the story. He's very talented and uses different voices for all the characters in the book!

Sometimes, the characters inside the house might have little disagreements, but Mr. Mopple always helps them get along. Once the story is finished, Mr. Mopple leaves the magical house, and the face on the wall closes its eyes and disappears. Then, Mr. Mopple goes back to his work, ready for the next adventure!
