Stephen Moore (1836–1897) was an Irish politician. He was a member of the Conservative Party. He served in the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
He was born in 1836 at a place called Barne, near Clonmel in County Tipperary, Ireland. His father was also named Stephen Moore, and his mother was Anna Pennefather. Both his parents came from important families in Tipperary who owned a lot of land. The Moores were even connected to a noble family, the Earls Mount Cashell. Stephen Moore's great-uncle was Richard Moore, who was a famous lawyer and judge in Ireland.
Stephen Moore's Political Life
Stephen Moore became a Member of Parliament (MP) for County Tipperary. He was elected in 1874. He represented the Irish Conservative Party. As an MP, he worked in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. This Parliament made laws for the whole country, including Ireland at that time.
Moore served as an MP until the general election in 1880. He decided not to run for election again that year.
Life After Politics
Stephen Moore's wife passed away in 1886. Stephen Moore himself died in July 1897. His death was sudden but not a complete surprise, as he had been living with heart disease for a long time.
After his death, his home, Barne, was passed on to his son, Randall Kingsmill Moore. Stephen Moore was remembered by people in his community as a kind person. He was known as a good neighbor and a fair landlord. He was proud that he never forced any of his tenants to leave their homes.
