The Sterling Warriors are the sports teams that play for Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. They are part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). This means they compete against other colleges across the country. The Warriors are also members of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).

Sterling College has many different sports teams for both boys and girls. Here are the sports you can find at Sterling:

The Football Team

The Sterling Warriors football team has a cool history! In 2009, they finished fourth in their conference. They won six games and lost four that season. The head coach for the football team is Chuck Lambert. He took over from his brother, Andy.

A Historic Night Game

Something really special happened in 1905. The Sterling College football team played a game at night! This was very unusual back then. The Coleman Company used temporary gas-powered lights to light up the field. This game was against Fairmount College, which is now called Wichita State University.

It was the very first night football game ever played west of the Mississippi River! Even though Fairmount won the game 24–0, it was a big moment in sports history.

Famous Football Alumni

One famous person who played football for Sterling College is Clarence Gilyard. After college, he became a well-known actor.
