Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Stickybear is a friendly bear character created by Richard Hefter. He stars in a series of "edutainment" products. Edutainment means these products are both educational and entertaining! Stickybear was also the mascot for Weekly Reader Software, which was part of Xerox Education Publications.

The first Stickybear software came out in the early 1980s. These programs were first made for the Apple II computer. Later, they were also released for IBM PC, Atari 8-bit computers, and the Commodore 64.

Even in 2008, new Stickybear software was still being made! These newer versions worked on Windows XP/Windows Vista and Mac OS X computers.

Stickybear Books

Before the software became super popular, Stickybear also appeared in several books. These books helped kids learn about different topics in a fun way. Some of the books included:
