Stoneleigh is a large house in Stanleytown, Virginia. It was once the home of Thomas B. Stanley, who became the Governor of Virginia. Building the house started in 1929 and finished in 1932.
The house was built in the Tudor Revival style. This means it looks like old English homes from the Tudor period. The stone used to build Stoneleigh came from the nearby Smith River. Governor Stanley lived in this big 25-room house until he passed away in 1970. After that, his children took care of the house. In 1980, they gave Stoneleigh to Ferrum College.
