Stormie Denise Forte is an American lawyer, radio host, and politician. She is known for her work in the city of Raleigh. Stormie Forte made history as the first African-American woman to join the Raleigh City Council. She started her role on the council on July 14, 2020. About Stormie Forte
Stormie Forte grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. She finished high school at Needham B. Broughton High School in 1989. She then went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, she earned two degrees: one in sociology and another in rehabilitation counseling and psychology.
Education and Early Career
After her studies at Chapel Hill, Stormie Forte continued her education. She graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2002. This helped her become a lawyer. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta, a public service sorority.
Joining the Raleigh City Council
On July 14, 2020, Stormie Forte was chosen to join the Raleigh City Council. This was a big moment because she became the first African-American woman to serve on the council. She represents District D in Raleigh. This district includes important places like North Carolina State University.
She was selected by the city council members and Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin. She was chosen from many people who wanted the job. Stormie Forte wanted to help make housing more affordable for everyone. She also aimed to create more business chances for small businesses owned by minorities.
