Stung Treng is a province located in the northeastern part of Cambodia. It is known for its beautiful natural areas. The main city and capital of the province is also called Stung Treng.

About Stung Treng Province

Stung Treng became a province in 1907. It covers a large area of about 11,092 square kilometers. This makes it one of Cambodia's bigger provinces. In 2019, about 159,565 people lived here. The main language spoken is Khmer, but some people also speak Lao.

Geography and Nature

The mighty Mekong River flows right through the middle of Stung Treng province. This river is very important for the people and the wildlife. It provides water for farming and is a way to travel.

One special thing about Stung Treng is its rare animals. It is one of the few places where you can still see the Irrawaddy dolphin. These dolphins are very endangered, which means there are not many left in the world. Protecting them is very important. The province has many forests and wetlands, which are home to different kinds of plants and animals.
