Sue City is a small, unincorporated community located in Macon County, in the state of Missouri, United States. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or buildings that isn't officially part of a city or town. It doesn't have its own local government like a mayor or city council.

History of Sue City

Sue City was planned and laid out in 1868. This process, called "platting," means someone drew up a map showing where streets, lots, and public areas would be. The community was named after Susan Ryster. She was the wife of one of the first people to settle there.

A post office was opened in Sue City in 1868. This allowed people living there to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1900.
