Sulev Nõmmik was a very talented Estonian artist. He was born in Tallinn on January 11, 1931, and passed away in Kuressaare on July 28, 1992. Sulev Nõmmik was many things: a director for plays and movies, an actor, a humorist, and a comedian. He made many people laugh!

He is best known for creating a funny character named Kärna Ärni. Kärna Ärni lived in a made-up village called Uduvere, which means "Foggyshire." Sulev Nõmmik also helped write the stories for several famous Estonian movies. These include Mehed ei nuta, Siin me oleme!, and Noor pensionär.

Sulev Nõmmik was recognized for his amazing work. In 1988, he received a special award called Meie Mats. This award is given to people who have done great things in Estonian humor. It shows how much people appreciated his talent for making others happy.
