Suraya Pakzad

Suraya Pakzad (Dari: ثریا پاکزاد) is a brave Afghan woman who works hard to protect the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan. She started an organization called Voice of Women in 1998.

At first, Voice of Women secretly taught girls how to read. This was because of the Taliban, a group that made it very hard for girls to go to school. Sometimes, the girls even had to burn their books so they wouldn't get caught!

After 2001, Voice of Women became an official organization. It now helps women in many ways. They offer safe places to live, advice, and training for jobs. This helps women become more independent and safe. The organization also helped create Afghanistan's constitution, which is like the country's rulebook.
