About the Show: Survival Challenges
The series began in 2009. It had one season with 13 episodes. A second season, also with 13 episodes, started in April 2010.
Each season starts with a pretend accident. In season one, it was a school bus crash. In season two, it was a floatplane crash. These accidents help to start the story. They also give the participants their first survival challenges.
Les Stroud's Role
Les Stroud is the star and host of the TV show Survivorman. He introduces each episode of Survive This. He also explains what happens during the episode. Stroud appears on camera at the start of each episode. He meets with the teens. They talk about how they are feeling. Then, he gives them the day's survival challenge. After that, Stroud leaves.
Sometimes, Stroud comes back halfway through an episode. He checks on the teens to see how they are doing. Each challenge ends with Stroud visiting the participants again. He checks their physical and emotional state. He asks if anyone wants to leave the show and go home.
Season Two Differences
The second season was a bit different from the first. In the final episode, Les Stroud chose one participant. His name was Colin. Stroud called him the "Ultimate Survivor."
Also, the question Stroud asked the participants changed. In season one, he asked, "Who wants out?" In season two, he asked, "Who can survive?"
