Susan Estrada is a very important person in the history of the Internet. She is famous for helping to build the early internet and making it possible for businesses to use it. Because of her amazing work, she was added to the Internet Hall of Fame in 2014.

Building the Early Internet

Susan Estrada started a special computer network called CERFnet in 1988. This was one of the very first big networks that helped connect computers all over the world. Think of it like building one of the first major highways for information!

Connecting Networks Together

Susan was a great leader. She worked with other important networks like PSINet and UUnet. Together, they created something called the Commercial Internet Exchange. This was a huge step because it allowed different networks to connect and share information. It also meant that, for the first time, businesses could start using the internet to send messages and share information, which was a really big deal!

Sharing Knowledge

Susan Estrada also wanted to help more people understand how to use the internet. In 1993, she started her own company called Aldea Communications, Inc. She also wrote a book called Connecting to the Internet. This book helped many people learn how to get online and use the internet when it was still very new.
