Susan May Pratt grew up in East Lansing, Michigan. She is the younger of two daughters. Her parents are Sally and William P. Pratt. She went to East Lansing High School.
In August 2015, Susan was finishing her college degree in business. She was also taking classes to prepare for a master's program. This program was in occupational therapy at the University of Southern California.
She married Canadian actor Kenneth Mitchell in May 2006. Kenneth Mitchell passed away in February 2024. They had two children together: a daughter named Lilah and a son named Kallum.
