Suthachai Yimprasert (born April 28, 1956 – died September 27, 2017) was an important historian from Thailand. He wrote books about Thai history, including Phan Ching Chart Thai and Adyakam Rat Nai Vikrit Kan Plianplaeng.

A newspaper called Khaosod said he became "one of the most respected names in modern historical writing" in Thailand. Another newspaper, The Nation, described him as a noted historian. A news website, Tnews, also praised him as someone who "loved democracy."

Early Life and Activism

Suthachai Yimprasert was a student who cared deeply about his country. In 1976, he was part of a student protest at Thammasat University. During this time, a very sad and violent event happened on campus. Many students were hurt or lost their lives.

After witnessing this difficult event, Suthachai felt he needed to take strong action for change. He decided to leave the city and went to live in the southern jungle. There, he joined a group of people who were fighting for different ideas about how the country should be run. He became a type of fighter known as a guerrilla.

Education and Career

Later, Suthachai Yimprasert returned to his studies. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Srinakharinwirot University. He then continued his education, getting his Master's Degree from Chulalongkorn University. Finally, he completed his Doctor's Degree from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.

After his studies, Suthachai became a respected historian. He used his knowledge and experiences to write important books that helped people understand Thailand's past better.
