Svensk Hyllningsfest is a special festival held in Lindsborg, Kansas. Its name means "Swedish Honoring Festival" in Swedish. This fun event happens every two years, in October of odd-numbered years. It celebrates the amazing Swedish history and culture of the Lindsborg community.
The festival is packed with exciting activities. You can see traditional Swedish dancing and try delicious foods, like lutfisk. There are also cooking shows, cool arts and crafts, and lots of entertainment from local artists and musicians. A big parade marches through the town, and you can enjoy a traditional Swedish smörgåsbord, which is like a buffet with many different dishes.

What Happens at the Festival?
Many people in Lindsborg help make the Svensk Hyllningsfest special. Town residents perform folk dances and musical shows. They also share their skills in cooking demonstrations and display their arts and crafts.
Young Dancers and Ambassadors
A large group of students, about 400 of them, start learning dances for this festival when they are in first grade! They begin practicing early in the school year to get ready. Older students from high school become part of the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers. These students are chosen to represent their community for four years. Svensk Hyllningsfest is just one of the many places where they perform their dances.
History of Svensk Hyllningsfest
The very first Svensk Hyllningsfest took place a long time ago, in 1941. However, it was not held in 1943. The most recent festival happened on October 13 and 14, 2023.
