Swart, Missouri facts for kids
Swart is a small, unincorporated community located in Vernon County, Missouri, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the larger county it's in.
The History of Swart
Swart was officially planned and mapped out in 1893. This process is called "platting." The community was named after D. S. Swart, who owned the land where the community was created.
In the same year, 1893, a post office was opened in Swart. This post office helped people send and receive mail until it closed in 1919. Over time, the community's name was sometimes spelled a little differently, like "Swarts" or "Swartz."
