You might have even seen them on TV shows like Food Network and Cooking Channel!
What makes Sweet Republic special is that they make all their ice cream from scratch. This means they create every flavor themselves, using unique recipes from one of the founders, Helen Yung. They are known for trying out unusual ingredients like corn, bacon, blue cheese, and even charcoal in their ice cream. They also create flavors inspired by different cultures around the world.

How Sweet Republic Started
The Founders' Dream
The story of Sweet Republic began with two friends, Helen Yung and Jan Wichayanuparp. They used to work together at a big company called Citigroup. While working there, they became good friends and often talked about their dream of opening a restaurant together one day.
Learning to Make Ice Cream
In 2002, Helen Yung decided to follow her passion for cooking. She left her job and went to a famous cooking school called Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney, Australia. There, she learned many culinary skills that would later help her create amazing ice cream flavors.
Opening the First Shop
After years of planning and learning, the very first Sweet Republic ice cream shop opened its doors in 2006. Helen Yung focuses on creating all the delicious ice cream recipes and flavors. Jan Wichayanuparp, on the other hand, handles the business side of things, making sure everything runs smoothly.
Growing the Business
In 2017, Jan Wichayanuparp was chosen for a special program by the James Beard Foundation. This program helps women who own food businesses learn how to make their companies even more successful. This shows how dedicated the founders are to growing Sweet Republic and sharing their unique ice cream with more people.
