Taikichiro Mori (born March 1, 1904 – died January 30, 1993) was a very successful Japanese businessman. He is famous for starting the Mori Building Company. This company builds and manages many tall buildings in Japan.

For a short time in 1991 and 1992, a magazine called Forbes said he was the richest person in the world! After he passed away, his sons, Minoru and Akira, continued his work. Minoru led Mori Building, and Akira started another company called Mori Trust. Today, his granddaughter, Miwako Date, helps run Mori Trust.

His Life and Work

Taikichiro Mori was born in 1904. He went to college at the Tokyo College of Commerce, which is now called Hitotsubashi University. He finished his studies there in 1928.

After college, he became a professor. He taught at a technical high school in Kyoto starting in 1932. Later, in 1946, he taught at Yokohama Commercial School, which is now Yokohama City University. He even became the head of the business department there.

While he was still teaching at the university, he started his own company. This was the Mori Building Company. He officially retired from teaching in 1959. After that, he focused all his energy on his building company, becoming its president. He helped build many important buildings in Japan.
