Takafumi Ogura (小倉 隆史, Ogura Takafumi, born July 6, 1973) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was known for playing as a forward and also represented the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs: A Football Journey

Early Days and Nagoya Grampus Eight

Takafumi Ogura was born in Suzuka, Japan, on July 6, 1973. After finishing high school, he began his professional football career. In 1992, he joined Nagoya Grampus Eight, a team in Japan's top football league.

Playing in the Netherlands

In 1993, Takafumi Ogura went to the Netherlands. He played for a team called Excelsior on a temporary loan. He played in 31 games and scored 14 goals for them. This experience helped him grow as a player.

Returning to Japan and Winning Trophies

Ogura returned to Nagoya Grampus Eight in 1994. In 1995, his team won the Emperor's Cup, which was their first big trophy ever! In the final game, he scored two important goals. This was a huge moment for him and the club.

Facing Challenges and Moving On

In 1996, Takafumi Ogura faced a tough challenge when he got injured. He had several operations to recover. Even though he worked hard to come back, he didn't get to play as much as before.

In the early 2000s, he played for a few other teams. These included JEF United Ichihara in 2000, Tokyo Verdy in 2001, and Consadole Sapporo in 2002.

Making His Debut

Takafumi Ogura also had the honor of playing for the Japan national team. He made his first appearance for Japan on May 22, 1994, in a game against Australia.

Scoring for His Country

Just a few days later, on May 29, Ogura scored his first goal for Japan. This goal came in a match against France. He also played for Japan in the 1994 Asian Games. In total, he played 5 games for Japan and scored 1 goal in 1994.

Coaching Career

Becoming a Manager

After his playing career, Takafumi Ogura moved into coaching. In June 2015, he became an assistant for the general manager at Nagoya Grampus, his former club. The next year, in 2016, he took on the role of manager for the team. However, he resigned from this position in August of the same year.
