Club Career Highlights
Takaya Kurokawa was born in Saijo, Japan, on April 7, 1981. After finishing high school, he began his professional football journey.
Starting with Shimizu S-Pulse
In 2000, Takaya joined Shimizu S-Pulse, a well-known team. He made his first appearance in a professional game that same year. For a while, he got more chances to play, especially when the main goalkeeper, Masanori Sanada, was not playing. However, in 2004, another goalkeeper named Yohei Nishibe joined the team, which meant Takaya had fewer opportunities to play in matches.
Moving to New Teams
In 2006, Takaya moved to Tokyo Verdy and then to JEF United Chiba. Even with these moves, he still found it hard to get regular playing time. In 2007, he decided to join Japan Soccer College, a team in a lower league called the Regional Leagues. This move gave him more chances to play, and he appeared in many games for them.
Time at Albirex Niigata
After his time at Japan Soccer College, Takaya moved to Albirex Niigata. However, he often served as a reserve goalkeeper here, meaning he was a backup for other main goalkeepers like Takashi Kitano, Masaaki Higashiguchi, and Tatsuya Morita over the years. He continued to play until the end of the 2016 season, when he decided to retire from professional football.
National Team Experience
Takaya Kurokawa also had the chance to represent Japan at the youth level.
Playing for Japan U-20
In June 2001, Takaya was chosen to be part of the Japan U-20 national team. This team competed in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship, a big tournament for young players from around the world. Although he was part of the squad, he was a reserve goalkeeper and did not play in any matches.
Joining Japan U-23
Later, in August 2004, he was selected for the Japan U-23 national team. This team was preparing for the 2004 Summer Olympics. Just like with the U-20 team, he was a reserve goalkeeper and did not get to play in the Olympic matches.
