Takumi Shimohira (下平 匠, Shimohira Takumi, born October 6, 1988, in Minoh, Osaka) is a Japanese former professional football player. He played as a Left back during his career. Shimohira was known for his dedication and skill on the field. He played for several major clubs in Japan before retiring in 2024.

Takumi Shimohira's Football Journey
Early Years and Gamba Osaka
Takumi Shimohira started his football journey in the youth system of Gamba Osaka. He joined their main team in 2007. During his time at Gamba Osaka, he helped the team win important titles. They won the AFC Champions League in 2008, which is a big competition for clubs in Asia. They also won the J.League Cup in 2007 and the Emperor's Cup twice, in 2008 and 2009.
Moving to Omiya Ardija
In 2012, Shimohira moved to Omiya Ardija. He quickly became an important player for the team. Before a match against Urawa Reds in April 2012, an incident with a fan motivated his teammates. Omiya Ardija went on to win that match 2-0.
Time at Yokohama F. Marinos
Shimohira joined Yokohama F. Marinos in 2014. He had a fantastic year in 2015, playing in every single match for the team. This shows how reliable and important he was. In 2017, he returned to playing after being out for 10 months due to an injury. He even played as a right-back in one game, which was a new position for him.
Joining JEF United Chiba
In August 2018, Shimohira moved to JEF United Chiba on a four-month loan. He later joined the club permanently in December 2018. He played for JEF United Chiba until the end of the 2020 season.
Playing for Nankatsu SC
In February 2021, Shimohira joined Nankatsu SC. He was very excited about this move because the club's chairman is Yōichi Takahashi. Takahashi is the famous creator of the Captain Tsubasa manga series, which is about football. In his first season with Nankatsu SC, Shimohira was even named in the Best XI for the 2021 Kanto League Division 2.
Retirement from Football
After a long and successful career, Takumi Shimohira announced his retirement from professional football on November 5, 2024.
Life Outside Football
Takumi Shimohira has also shown his talents off the football field. In December 2023, he announced that he had passed a special exam. This exam allowed him to become an Information Technology Engineer. This shows that he is not only good at sports but also very smart and dedicated to learning new skills.
