Tarhe facts for kids
Tarhe (born 1742, died 1818) was a very important leader of the Wyandot nation. He lived in a region known as the Ohio Country. People often called him "The Crane."
Tarhe worked hard to protect his people's land from American settlers. He was part of a group of Native American nations called the Northwestern Confederacy. This group fought against the United States. After a big battle called the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794, the Confederacy was defeated. After this, Tarhe decided it was best to try and work peacefully with the United States.
To honor this respected leader, a large cargo helicopter, the Sikorsky CH-54, was named after him.
