Tate Russell was born on August 24, 1999. He is an Australian soccer player. Tate plays as a right back for Western United in the A-League, which is Australia's top soccer league.

Tate Russell's Soccer Journey
Tate Russell started playing soccer in 2003 when he was just four years old. He began his journey with the Wollongong Olympic Junior club in his hometown of Wollongong. In 2008, he joined a special program called Football NSW's Project 22.
Early Club Career
In 2010, Tate moved to the South Coast Wolves club. He played there for four years, learning and improving his skills. After that, he joined the youth teams at Western Sydney Wanderers, a big club in Australian soccer.
Playing for Western Sydney Wanderers
Tate was part of the Western Sydney Wanderers Youth team that won the 2017-18 Y-League championship. The Y-League is a competition for young players. He played the whole game when his team beat Melbourne City Youth 3–1 in the Grand Final on February 3, 2018.
Tate signed his first professional contract with Western Sydney Wanderers on June 6, 2018. This was a two-year scholarship deal. He played his first professional game for the Wanderers on January 5, 2019. It was against Melbourne Victory, and even though the Wanderers lost 2–1, Tate played the entire match.
He scored his first professional goal in a game against Sydney United on August 28, 2019. This was during the 2019 FFA Cup. Tate hit a powerful shot into the goal, helping his team win 7-1.
Overcoming Injury
Before the 2022/23 A-League season, Tate suffered a serious injury to his knee, called an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. This meant he couldn't play for the whole season. It took him 530 days to recover and return to the field. He made his comeback in the first game of the 2023/24 season. Even with the injury, he earned a new two-year contract, keeping him at the Wanderers until the 2024/25 season.
International Appearances
Tate Russell has also played for Australia's national youth teams. He has played four games for the Australia U20 side. He also played two games for the Australia U23 team.
