Tauren Gabriel Wells (born April 7, 1986) is a popular American singer and pastor. He is known for his Christian pop, hip hop, and R&B music. Before becoming a solo artist, Tauren was the lead singer of the Christian band Royal Tailor.
After Royal Tailor broke up in 2015, Tauren Wells started his solo career. He released his first album, Hills and Valleys, in 2017. This album and its main song, also called "Hills and Valleys", were nominated for Grammy Awards. Another one of his songs, "Known", became very popular and reached the top of the Christian Airplay chart.
His second album, Citizen of Heaven, came out in 2020. This album and his song "Famous For (I Believe)" also received Grammy nominations. In 2022, he released his third album, Joy in the Morning. In 2024, Tauren and his wife Lorna started a church in Austin, Texas, where they both serve as lead pastors.

Tauren Wells' Music Journey
Tauren Wells felt a calling to serve God when he was sixteen years old. In 2004, he helped start the band Royal Tailor with DJ Cox and Blake Hubbard. They were all students at Indiana Bible College. Jarred Ingram later joined the band. Tauren also toured with the famous Christian band Casting Crowns in 2012.
Starting a Solo Career
In 2016, Tauren Wells signed with Reunion Records to become a solo artist. He released his first song, "Undefeated," in May of that year. This song was even used in a video by the popular YouTube group Dude Perfect. Later, he released "Love Is Action" and his first collection of songs, called an EP, titled Undefeated EP. "Love Is Action" was a number one hit on Christian radio for nine weeks.
In 2017, Tauren released the song "Hills and Valleys". It quickly became a top song on Christian music charts. His first full album, Hills and Valleys, was released digitally in June and physically in July of that year. He also sang on Crowder's song "All My Hope", which became his first number one hit on the Christian Airplay chart. In mid-2017, Tauren even opened for famous singers Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey on their "All the Hits Tour."
In 2018, Tauren Wells was nominated for two Grammy Awards for his album and song "Hills and Valleys," but he did not win. That same year, he also became a worship leader at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.
His song "Known" came out in June 2018. It became a top song on many Christian radio stations and was nominated for a Grammy Award and a Billboard Music Award.
New Albums and Collaborations
In January 2020, Tauren Wells released his second studio album, Citizen of Heaven. This album included songs like "Like You Love Me" and "Famous For (I Believe)", which featured singer Jenn Johnson. A music video for "Millionaire (Good Like That)" with Kirk Franklin was also released. "Famous For (I Believe)" reached number one on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart in January 2021. Both the song and the album were nominated for Grammy Awards that year.
In March 2021, Tauren worked with R&B singer H.E.R. on a song called "Hold Us Together (Hope Mix)". He also released a live album, Citizen of Heaven LIVE, in April 2021.
On February 25, 2022, Tauren released "Fake It" with Christian rapper Aaron Cole. This was the first song from his third album, Joy in the Morning, which came out on June 10, 2022. He also released an EP called Take It All Back in August 2023.
Becoming a Lead Pastor
In April 2023, Tauren Wells shared his plans to start a church with his wife Lorna. In 2024, they launched the Church of Whitestone in Austin, Texas, where they both serve as lead pastors. Tauren also announced that he is working on a new book.
On November 1, 2024, Tauren Wells released a new song called "Making Room." This song is also the title track for his upcoming album.
Tauren Wells' Family Life
Tauren Wells married his wife, Lorna Brittany Wells, in 2011. Before starting their own church, Tauren worked at his father-in-law's church in Houston. Tauren and Lorna also created the Prisma Worship Arts School, which helps train musicians. They have four sons: Kanaan (born 2013), Lawson Mayer (born 2016), Navy Elliot (born 2018), and Banner Paul (born 2021). The family lives in Austin, Texas.
