Tawhīd facts for kids
Tawhid is a very important idea in Islam. It means that there is only one God. Muslims believe that God is unique and has no equal. He is the only creator of everything. This means there are no other gods or powerful beings to worship. Accepting Tawhid is a key part of becoming a Muslim.
Because God is the only power, Muslims believe that everything, good or bad, comes from God. So, whatever happens in a person's life, they should accept it as coming from God. It also means that Muslims should only ask God for help, not anyone or anything else.

What the Qur'an Says About God
The Qur'an is the holy book of Islam. It explains what God is like in a special chapter. Chapter 112 says:
Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; None is born of Him, nor is He born; And there is no one like him.
This part of the Qur'an helps Muslims understand that God is truly unique.
Understanding Shirk
In Islam, shirk means saying that someone or something else is equal to God. This is seen as the biggest sin in Islam. It is the only sin that God might not forgive, unless the person truly feels sorry and changes their ways while still alive.
Shirk and the Trinity
The Koran also talks about not following the idea of the "trinity." The trinity is a Christian idea about God. Christians believe God is made up of three parts: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. They believe these three parts are one God.
Many Muslims see the trinity as shirk. This is because they believe it suggests there are parts to God, or that Jesus is equal to God. Christians, however, explain that they still believe in one God, even with the trinity.
Jesus in Islam and Christianity
The Koran says that Jesus was a human being. It says he was a prophet chosen by God. In Christianity, Jesus is seen as part of the trinity and is divine. This is different from how Muslims understand Jesus.
