The chain was started by three people: Andrew, Nick, and Laura Tolley. They had previously created another coffee shop chain called Harris + Hoole in 2012. They built Harris + Hoole with help from a big British supermarket, Tesco. Later, Tesco fully owned Harris + Hoole. In 2015, the Tolleys decided to leave Harris + Hoole. They wanted to focus all their energy on building up Taylor St Baristas.
What Happened to Taylor St Baristas?
In 2019, Taylor St Baristas faced some financial difficulties. On July 19, 2019, experts called "Joint Administrators" were brought in to help manage the company. These administrators work to sort out a company's business and money when it is struggling.
After this, the nine coffee shops in London were taken over by another company called Black Sheep Coffee. The name "Taylor St Baristas," its coffee roasting business, and its customer list were bought by a different company, Department of Coffee and Social Affairs.
