Because it was a convenient and friendly stop near the canyon, local people quickly started calling it 'Ted's Place'. The name stuck, and it has been known by that name ever since.
Who Owned Ted's Place?
Ted Herring owned and ran Ted's Place for many years. After he passed away in 1963, the property was sold to different owners over time. As of 2016, the well-known energy company Shell owns the gas station.
