Teresa Lourdes Borrego Campos (born August 31, 1965), known professionally as Terelu Campos, is a well-known Spanish television and radio host, writer, and businesswoman. She is the oldest daughter of the famous journalist and presenter María Teresa Campos.

Early Life and Family

Terelu Campos was born in Málaga, Spain. Both of her parents, María Teresa Campos Luque and José María Borrego Doblas, worked in radio. Her younger sister, Carmen Borrego, was born in 1966.

Growing up in a family of broadcasters, Terelu was surrounded by the world of media. After her father passed away, she decided to start her career instead of continuing her studies. In 1984, at the age of 19, she began working at a radio station called Radiocadena Española [es]. There, she worked as a presenter, writer, and producer for different shows.

A Career in Television

Starting Out

In 1988, Terelu moved from radio to television. She started working behind the scenes as a producer and music coordinator for TV shows. She worked on programs hosted by the famous journalist Jesús Hermida and later on shows hosted by her own mother.

She also made a small appearance in a movie called Zocta, solo en la Tierra se puede ser extraterrestre. During the 1990s, she continued to produce music for TV shows and also began to present programs herself.

Becoming a Famous Presenter

In 1996, Terelu's career took a big step forward when she joined the channel Telecinco. She co-presented the popular show Día a día [es] with her mother.

A year later, in 1997, she began hosting her own interview show on the channel Telemadrid called Con T de tarde [es]. The show was very successful and stayed on the air for seven years, until 2004. This made her one of the most recognized faces on television in Madrid.

Working on Different Channels

After her show on Telemadrid ended, Terelu worked for several other major Spanish TV channels.

  • Antena 3: From 2004 to 2005, she worked with her mother again on a morning show. She also hosted a game show called La Granja.
  • laSexta: In 2006, she participated in a comedy contest called El club de Flo [es].
  • TVE: In 2008, she was a contestant on the popular dancing show Mira quién baila.

Return to Telecinco

In 2007, Terelu returned to Telecinco, where she has worked on many popular shows. She became a regular contributor to programs like La noria [es] and Sálvame [es].

From 2009 to 2017, she co-hosted the weekend show ¡Qué tiempo tan feliz! [es] with her mother. In 2016, she starred in a reality show with her mother and sister called Las Campos [es], which showed viewers a glimpse into their family's life.

Personal Life

Terelu Campos was married to Miguel Ángel Polvorinos from 1993 to 1996. In 1998, she married Alejandro Rubio, and they have a daughter named Alejandra. The couple separated in 2003.

In 2012, Terelu shared that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She took a break from television to have surgery and focus on her health. She bravely returned to her work after her recovery. In 2018, she faced another health challenge and had a second surgery.

Other Work

Besides her work on television, Terelu is also a businesswoman. She has managed her own company, Rubitecam, S.L., since 1997. In 2017, she co-wrote a book about her life called Frente al espejo (which means "In Front of the Mirror").
