About Teresa Procaccini
Teresa Procaccini was born in Cerignola, Italy, in 1934. She started writing music when she was very young, creating piano pieces at just eight years old. She studied how to play the organ and how to compose music at the Foggia Conservatory.
From 1971 to 1972, she was in charge of the Conservatory of Foggia. Later, she taught composition at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome until 2001. She also became the artistic director for the Friends of Music Association of Foggia in 1972. This meant she helped decide what music events and performances would happen.
Teresa Procaccini has won many awards both in Italy and around the world. These include the Viotti competition and the Casella Prize. She also won the International String Quartet Competition of San Francisco. She has taught special music classes, called master classes, in different countries like Germany.
