Terrance Laird, born on October 12, 1998, is an American athlete who is really fast! He specializes in short-distance running races, like the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints in track and field.
Terrance Laird's Running Journey
Terrance started his college running career at Penn State University in 2017. He was so good that he won the 'Freshman of the Year' award in his conference! After that, he moved to Hinds Community College in Mississippi for his second year.
Later, Terrance joined the LSU Tigers team at Louisiana State University. On March 27, 2021, he ran an amazing 200-meter race in just 19.81 seconds at the Texas Relays event. This was one of the fastest times ever recorded in college history! He ran the second half of the race even faster than the first, which is very impressive.
Terrance also finished second in the 200-meter race at the 2021 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. He completed it in 20.20 seconds, which was the eighth fastest indoor 200-meter time ever. He also had a super-fast 200-meter run of 19.64 seconds in 2019, though it was helped by a strong wind.
In May 2021, Terrance ran the 100-meter race in 9.80 seconds, also with a strong wind helping him. This was one of the top 20 fastest 100-meter runs ever recorded under any conditions. He won a special award called the Commissioners Trophy for scoring the most points at the SEC event. There, he won both the 100-meter and 200-meter races and helped his team win the 4x100-meter relay race.
