The Terre Haute Masonic Temple is a special building in Terre Haute, Indiana. It was built in a style called Classical Revival. This means it looks like old Greek and Roman buildings.

Work on the temple started in 1915, and it opened its doors in 1917. In 1995, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This list includes important buildings across the United States.

Who Built the Temple?

The Terre Haute Masonic Temple Association led the building project. This group included members from different Masonic organizations. They all helped pay for the temple. A.W. Stoolman was the builder, and Archie H. Hubbard was the architect.

Who Uses the Temple Today?

Many Masonic groups still use the temple today. These include Terre Haute Lodge No. 19, F&AM and other lodges. Groups like the Order of the Eastern Star also meet here. The building is a central meeting place for these organizations.

Managing the Building

The Terre Haute Masonic Temple Association still manages the building. They are in charge of all repairs and changes. This group is made up of leaders from the different Masonic bodies. They work to keep the temple in good condition.

Inside the Temple

The Terre Haute Masonic Temple is a large building with four stories. It also has a full basement. The foundation was built strong enough for a much taller building.

What's on Each Floor?

The first floor is open to the public. It has a large ballroom and a library. There are also rooms for meetings and a parlor. This floor is used for many different events.

The second floor is for specific Masonic meetings. It has three lodge rooms. There are also lounge areas for members.

The third floor is used by three special groups. These are the Royal Arch Masons, Royal & Secret Masters, and Knights Templar. These groups are part of the York Rite of Masonry.

The fourth floor is mainly for storage. It also has a choir area and an organ loft.
