The Texas Colored League was a baseball league for African American players. It started in 1919 and played until 1926. During this time, Black baseball players were not allowed to play in the main professional leagues. So, they created their own leagues. The Texas Colored League was one of these important leagues. It did not play games in 1922.
The league came back in 1929 with a new name: the Texas–Oklahoma–Louisiana League. For the 1930 and 1931 seasons, it was called the Texas–Louisiana Negro League. These leagues gave many talented players a chance to play baseball.
