The Texas Legislature is the law-making group for the state of Texas. It works like a mini-government for the state. This group is made up of two main parts: the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate.
The House of Representatives has 150 members, and the Senate has 31 members. These groups meet at the Texas State Capitol building in Austin, Texas. Currently, the Republican Party leads both parts of the Legislature.
The main leaders are Dan Patrick, who is the President of the Senate, and Dennis Bonnen, who is the Speaker of the House. Both of these leaders are from the Republican Party.
