The Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia (TCFUA) was a special group in Australia. It was a trade union, which means it helped workers. The TCFUA worked for people in the textile, clothing, footwear, and hat-making industries. They made sure these workers had fair pay and good working conditions.

What Was the TCFUA?
The TCFUA was a trade union. A trade union is like a team that helps workers. It speaks up for them and tries to make their jobs better. The TCFUA represented many different workers. These included people who made clothes, shoes, and fabrics. They also helped those who made felt hats.
Helping Workers in Australia
The TCFUA's main goal was to support its members. They worked to improve wages and safety at work. They also helped with training and job security. This union played an important role in the lives of many Australian workers.
How the TCFUA Started
The TCFUA was created on 1 July 1992. It was formed when two other unions decided to join together. These were the Amalgamated Footwear & Textile Workers' Union of Australia and the Clothing & Allied Trades Union of Australia. By combining, they became a stronger voice for workers.
Joining Forces with Other Unions
The TCFUA was connected to a bigger group called the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). The ACTU is the largest group of unions in Australia. In 2018, the TCFUA joined an even larger union. It merged into the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union. This merger meant the TCFUA no longer existed as a separate union. Its members became part of the new, bigger union.
