The Blobs facts for kids
The Blobs was a fun animated TV show for kids, based on popular books by DC Thomson. It first came out in 1980. The show tells the story of a group of colorful characters who look like paint splashes. They live in a bright place called Paintbox Land. There were 26 episodes in total. The show was made in 1996 by Siriol Animation in Wales. It was also supported by DC Thomson & Co., Sianel Pedwar Cymru (S4C), and Scottish Television. Later, in 1999, TV Ontario bought the series for North America. For this version, Julie Zwillich re-recorded the voices. A Welsh version of the show, called Y Blobs, was also made for S4C.
What the Show is About
The show's stories are narrated by Jane Horrocks in the UK. For the North American version, Julie Zwillich did the narration. Both narrators also did all the different voices for the characters.
The Blobs often have a problem to solve in each episode. This might involve helping their friends or learning new things. Sometimes they get lost or need to overcome a fear.
The Blobs are special because they can change their shapes whenever they want! This helps them in their adventures. Paintbox Land, where they live, is ruled by a kind leader named Royal Blue. However, a tricky witch named Inky Black often causes trouble for them.
The way the show is animated looks just like the original books by DC Thomson. This keeps the colorful and unique style of the Blobs.
