The Bozo Super Sunday Show was the last TV show in the long-running Bozo series from WGN-TV. It aired on Sunday mornings for seven years. The show was filmed in Chicago, Illinois.
The main star was Bozo the Clown, played by Joey D'Auria. The very last episode was filmed on October 25, 2000. It even had a special guest, Roy Brown, who played Cooky the Cook. Cooky was Bozo's helper in earlier WGN shows like Bozo's Circus and The Bozo Show.
In 1997, the show was changed a bit. This was done to make it meet new rules for educational TV shows.
The final Bozo TV recording was a special called Bozo: 40 Years of Fun!. It was taped on June 12, 2001, and shown on July 14, 2001. The special featured singer Billy Corgan, a big fan of the Bozo shows. He sang "Forever Young" by Bob Dylan.
The very last time The Bozo Super Sunday Show was shown again was on August 26, 2001. The Chicago Bozo series, including its earlier versions, was the longest-running Bozo show on TV. Many other Bozo shows in North America had stopped airing by the early 1970s.
WGN-TV's Bozo returned for a two-hour special on December 24, 2005. It was called Bozo, Gar and Ray: WGN TV Classics. This special was very popular in Chicago and is shown again every year during the holidays.
