The Clare is a tall building in Chicago, Illinois. It is a special home for senior citizens who want to live on their own but still have help nearby if they need it. The building is located on the Loyola University Chicago Water Tower Campus in an area called the Gold Coast.
This 53-story building was designed by a company called Perkins and Will. It is one of the tallest buildings in the world made for senior citizens. The building also has classroom space at the bottom. This space, about 4,600 square meters (50,000 square feet), is used by Loyola University Chicago.
For a while, The Clare was run by a group called the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago. They are a religious organization that helps senior citizens. Later, the building changed owners. In 2011, a company called Senior Care Development, LLC bought The Clare. Today, it is managed by Life Care Services.
Between 2014 and 2016, many more people moved into The Clare. It went from being about half full to almost completely full! In 2016, The Clare got some cool updates. The main lobby was made over, a new cafe was added on the ninth floor, and the top floor became a new dining area called The Abbey on 53. The main dining room, called the Grafton Dining Room, also got a fresh new look.
