The Everett Resort is a special place located in Washington, Vilas County, Wisconsin. It sits on a piece of land that sticks out into the water, right between two beautiful lakes: Catfish Lake and Cranberry Lake.
This resort first opened its doors in the 1890s. It was one of the very first vacation spots in this part of Wisconsin. Because of its long history, the Everett Resort was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. This means it's an important building that helps tell the story of the past. The resort is about four miles east of the town of Eagle River.
A Look Back at History
How the Resort Began
The Everett Resort was started by a person named Fred Morey in the 1890s. This was a time when the big business of cutting down trees, called logging, was slowing down in the area. As logging stopped, people started to visit the beautiful lakes and forests for fun. This made it a perfect time for resorts to open.
New Owners Take Over
A few years later, in 1897, the resort got new owners. A couple named Edward and Helen Everett took over the property. They continued to run the resort, making it a popular place for visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of Wisconsin.
