The Fabulous Five (book series) facts for kids

The Fabulous Five is a popular American book series written by Betsy Haynes in the late 1980s. These books were mostly written for girls around 12 to 15 years old. The series is a spin-off from another book series by Betsy Haynes, which was about a character named Taffy Sinclair.

The stories in The Fabulous Five are all about five best friends: Jana Morgan, Melanie Edwards, Beth Barry, Christie Winchell, and Katie Shannon. You'll also meet their other classmates at Wakeman Junior High, which the students jokingly call 'Wacko Jr. High'. The books were published by Bantam and Skylark and were quite successful.

Before this series, when the five girls were in sixth grade, they started a club called the 'Against Taffy Sinclair Club'. This club was a place where they could talk about Taffy Sinclair, who was known as the snobbiest and most popular girl in their school. The Fabulous Five series then follows these girls as they start junior high school. The stories happen in a real town called Bridgeport, Connecticut. The series finished in 1992.
