The Folk of Gloucester facts for kids
The Folk of Gloucester is a museum found in two of the oldest buildings in the city of Gloucester. These buildings include a Tudor merchant's house and a 17th-century town house. The museum, located at 99–103 Westgate Street, tells the story of how people lived in Gloucestershire throughout history.
Long ago, in 1555, a person named Bishop Hooper is believed to have stayed in these buildings. This was the night before a significant historical event happened in front of St Mary de Lode Church.
The museum has changed its name a few times. It was known as Gloucester Folk Museum before 2016. Then it became Gloucester Life until 2019, when it rebranded again to its current name, The Folk of Gloucester.
