The Frog Princess Story
This fantasy novel follows the journey of a princess who accidentally turns into a frog. She must find a way to break the spell and return to her human form.
Emma's Royal Problem
The main character is Princess Emeralda, also known as Emma. She is the future queen of Greater Greensward. Emma has a very unique laugh that sounds like a donkey. Her aunt, Grassina, who is the Green Witch, is the only one who truly understands her.
Emma's mother, Queen Chartreuse, wants her to marry Prince Jorge. He is a very proud prince from East Aradia, and Emma does not like him at all. To avoid this marriage, Emma runs away to the swamp.
A Kiss Gone Wrong
In the swamp, Emma meets Prince Eadric from Upper Montevista. He has been turned into a frog by a witch named Mudine. Emma feels like she has to help him. She reluctantly kisses him, hoping to turn him back into a human.
But something unexpected happens! Instead of Eadric turning back, Emma also turns into a frog. Confused and a bit annoyed, Emma and Eadric decide to find the witch Mudine. They want her to change them both back. A dog keeps chasing them throughout their adventure.
Tricky Witches and New Friends
Emma and Eadric finally reach the place where Eadric met Mudine. They find a strange woman searching there. They think she is Mudine, but she turns out to be Vannabe. Vannabe is a witch who wants to be powerful. She has taken over Mudine's house and pets.
Vannabe plans to use the two frogs for a magic potion. She believes this potion will make her beautiful forever. Luckily, Mudine's former pets help Emma and Eadric escape. They also free all the other animals Vannabe had captured.
The animals tell Emma and Eadric that Mudine has disappeared. So, Emma suggests they go to her aunt Grassina for help. L'il, a bat, and Fang, a snake, join them for protection. Fang leaves later to be with his friend Clarise.
Finding the Magic Bracelet
At Grassina's castle, she realizes Emma and Eadric are truly frogs. Grassina explains why they both changed. Emma was wearing a special bracelet when she kissed Eadric. Grassina had given Emma this bracelet to reverse curses. Because Emma wore it, the spell changed both of them.
To turn back into humans, Emma and Eadric must kiss again while wearing the bracelet. Emma remembers an otter stole the bracelet. So, the three of them head back to the swamp to get it.
Grassina cannot go deep into the swamp. This is because of a family curse on Green Witches involving flowers. Eadric is also chased by the dog again. This means Emma has to face the otter alone.
Emma pretends to be a powerful fairy. She uses some magic to convince the otter to give back the bracelet. Just in time, she manages to kiss Eadric before the dog catches them.
Happy Endings for Everyone
When they kiss, Emma and Eadric turn back into humans! The dog also transforms. It turns out the dog was Eadric's horse. The witch Mudine had cursed his horse too.
They return to Grassina. She is with the otter, who is actually Grassina's old friend, Haywood. He was cursed by Grassina's witch mother. Both couples are now happy. They plan to tell their families they have found their true loves.
