The Lakes, Visalia, California facts for kids
The Lakes is a very nice neighborhood located in the northwest part of Visalia. It has clear borders: the Marseille neighborhood is to the north, Akers Street is to the east, Goshen Avenue is to the south, and The Industrial Park is to the west. To help keep cars from driving too fast, special bumps called speed bumps have been put in the roads.
This neighborhood is special because it was the first of its kind in Visalia. It has many beautiful, custom-built homes. The Lakes is known for its 9 acres (36,000 m2) of lakes and waterways that were made by people. There are 152 building spots for homes, some are a quarter-acre and some are half-acre in size. These homes are built on a total of 20 acres (81,000 m2) of land.
The Lakes is the only neighborhood in Visalia where homes are right on the water. It is also known as one of the safest places to live in the city of Visalia.
How The Lakes Was Built
The idea for The Lakes neighborhood came from a company called Mangano Homes, Inc. They were also the ones who built it.
